RICK BLESSING

Over the years, Rick Blessing has sung with a number of jazz groups throughout the United States and Europe. His father, a career Air Force jet pilot, gave the sixteen year old the chance to begin singing with big bands that played all over various bases where his family was stationed.

After college, Rick joined the military and shortly after active duty, began a stint as an entertainer in the Special Services Branch of the military.  As years passed and musical trends changed, his personal love for that swing music of the 50’s Sinatra, Dean, Bennett era, never wavered. By 2000, it seemed that swing music’s dramatic disappearance all around, re-sparked in him the desire to perform it again.

In 2006 Blessing yearned to enter the studio. Instead of re-recording a batch of standards, he wanted to write and produce something new, but in the classic style.  The heart of this project was to hopefully inspire others to pick up the torch utilizing all jazz influences old and new. The project resulted in the CD “I'm Just the Guy for You.” It was a real labor of love and garnered airplay throughout the United States.
Today Rick performs all over Southern California with his trio and is a regular featured artist at the world famous Jazz supper club ‘JAX Bar and Grill’ in Glendale California.
