THELONIOUS DUB

Joe Bartone, Boston guitarist (Berklee, Sun-Ra Tribute Arkestra, Extropians) formed Thelonious Dub in August of 2007.

Joined with Brandon Schmidt - Upright Bass (Masters CalArts – Charlie Haden, Darek "Oles" Oleszkiewicz), Sean Rainey- drums (Berklee), Kyle O'Donnell - sax (U North Texas).

They perform original compositions as well as instrumental versions of tunes by Monk, Radiohead, The Police and others - all interleaved with New Orleans and Reggae Dub influences.

Modeled after the "Modern Lounge" sound, T-Dub draws from groups like Weather Report, Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Massive Attack, Thievery Corporation and Sly Dunbar & Robbie Shakespeare. To pursue this sound, Thelonious Dub adds electric sitar, synthesizers, & effects.

“T-Dub has definitely tapped into an innovative sound that respectfully mimics their predecessors while it simultaneously breathes new life into music in general” - LA Times 2009
