Once she discovered her brother’s extensive blues collection she not only found herself absorbing guitar riffs and arpeggios but also took up the harmonica and was quickly learning the riffs of Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter, Big Walter Horton, Sonny Terry and anything she could get her hands on. While studying classical guitar, Laurie was accepted to the Boston Conservatory but the attraction to performing her own music and various other styles of music outweighed the classical guitar route.
